The guy behind this eBook and diet, Yuri Elkaim, presents highly controversial Holistic Nutritional truths that you’ll never hear from your doctor, dietist or anyone in the medical industry for that matter.

I know you’re here on this page, because you’re interested in knowing more about hemp protein powder, oil and seeds. But I think it’s safe to say that you and I both share the same interests;

We want to (still) be able to run around climbing mountains, running marathons, dancing, playing tennis and NOT looking like the mummy at the age of 95, right?

We do not want to live just another plain ordinary pre-destined lifecycle, where our bodies peak at the age of 28. Then soon after our health starts dramatically decreasing followed by chronic disceases and illnesses that limits our possibilities for having fun, keeping us from being that person we really want to be.

Of course I may be exaggerating a bit, but you get my point right? We should have that choice ourselves. It should be up to you. That’s freedom.

Hemp protein powder, even though it comes from the small ‘miracle’ seeds, just won’t change a darn thing in itself, IF you don’t have a healthy lifestyle – far from. It’s a great supplement. One of the best there is, but nothing beats exercise, sleep, the right mindset and the right foods. Nothing can replace that – only strengthen it.

Eating For Energy Review

As you know obesity is a huge problem in especially North America these days. Actually it gets worse and worse.

We know this is related to the unhealthy lifestyles many people have adopted, and especially the foods they’re ingesting. The problem is that there’s just so much conflicting information on the market, usually tainted by self-serving advertisers. That makes it quite a challenge to choose the right diet. A diet that is truly beneficial to our health and well-being.

Yuri Elkaim’s ‘Eating For Energy’ provides some encouraging information about a ‘back to basics’ approach to eating and staying healthy. It really could save your life.

Yuri Elkaim, being that highly competive athlete that he is, once found that his diet, which he thought was very healthy (high in fruits, vegetables, fiber and protein) actually did not provide his body with the amount of energy he expected. As a result of his studies in Holistic Nutrition he discovered a new way of viewing how the human body processes food to energy.

As a fitness coach and nutrition expert, he soon developed a diet. It was based on pure whole foods which eliminates many of the toxins that are so detrimental to our health.

In Eating For Energy you’re presented with quite a bit of Yuri’s scientific research. He will explain to you in a language you’ll be able to understand, just exactly how the different foods interacts with your body. He breaks it all down into the smallest particles, revealing how some foods are severely altered (losing most, if not all, its nutritional value) as they are getting processed by you in the kitchen or from the manufacturers.

Personally I think Yuri’s explanation of things are pure logic. To me at least it makes perfectly sense. He explains why, some people who think they know it all about nutrition and health, and considers themselves to be living and eating the right way, still is plagued by health concerns and excess body fat. He also explains why some people who seems to be physically fit, might actually be moving in dangerous grounds.

In Eating For Energy there’s a section especially for athletes who may need a higher than normal calorie intake. There’s also a 12-week meal plan, which is aimed at the transition into a diet based on whole foods. And finally there’s a recipes section showing you how to make all the dishes included in this book.

It’s obvious that Yuri is very passionate about Eating For Energy, and he has written this book very thoroughly, leaving the reader with all the information he needs for embarking on this new lifestyle.

If I have to find one negative thing to say about the book, it might be that some of the foods and supplements mentioned in this book may not be available in your local shopping mall. What makes many of these ingredients hard to find is that they have to be unprocessed and organic. That’s why you need to add a stop to your shopping rutine. You’ll need to pay a visit to your local health food store, and if possible visit a nearby farmers market.. If that’s not possible they should have the vegetables and fruits in the high cost grocers anyway.

Eating For Energy certainly is an impressive nutritional book and Yuri Elkaim is a great teacher. You don’t necessarily have to follow the meal plan step by step, since even adopting parts of his plan would be beneficial to you.

In this blog post, let’s examine the top 5 health benefits of hemp protein powder. By now you might have already heard a lot of fancy things being said about hemp protein, but perhaps you still believe it’s only meant for vegans and vegetarians to ingest, am I right? Naturally you are still a little skeptical and still not fully convinced yet?

If you swear to soy or whey protein powder and thinks those are the best two protein powder supplements, well.. I’m sorry I have to break it to you, but you’re wrong!

Let me summarize this up and give you the top 5 hemp protein benefits.

Every farmers dream makes it YOURS too!

Hemp actively helps fight chronic disceases

Whole food – VERY nutritious

Most effective!

Strip that belly fat

Hemp protein powder benefits explained..

Benefit #1: Every Farmers Dream Makes It YOURS Too!

Hemp protein is 100% pure, it comes directly from nature and is not grown using any herbi- or pesticides. It’s simply not necessary to grow hemp, because hemp is a weed which takes care of itself. It’s every farmers dream really. Those who know about it anyway, and who doesn’t live within the U.S (production of hemp is prohibited in the States, but importing it isn’t!). As a side note I should mention soy and whey protein is rarely organic – especially soy. The crops are usually heavily intoxicated with pesticides and when soy is produced, it gets processed with Hexane, which is a petroleum based solvent.

Benefit #2: Hemp Actively Helps Fight Chronic Disceases

Hemp protein powder and other hemp products possesses high amounts of good quality fats, and it is also one of the few food sources which contain GLA – we need these nutrients in order to maintain a healthy cellular growth. Health and discease .. what it all really comes down to is how our cells develop, so this is key!

Some of the disceases hemp protects you from are;

Specific types of cancers

Sudden Cardiac deaths

Under developed infants

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Atherosclerosis

Atopic Dermatitis and other skin disceases

Benefit #3: Whole Food – VERY Nutritious

A third benefit of hemp protein is that it has all the essential amino acids, which is also why it is regarded as a complete protein like diary, eggs and meat. Actually hemp protein has an edge over those 3 sources of protein, since it only contains the essential nutrients, which our bodies can utilize to it’s fullest. It doesn’t contain any anti-nutrients. In nutritional value, fish and flax comes in second trailing just behind hemp.

Benefit #4: Most Effective!

Hemp protein consists primarily of the two proteins, edestine and albumin – those are globular (blood) proteins, which is readily digestible proteins. I’ll not go into great detail in this blog post, but blood proteins is really the most efficient protein, which has direct access to enter the muscles fast! Unlike whey, where large amounts is stored as fat, and just lies dorment in the stomach, eventually developing those ugle love handles! (Read more details about the hemp protein globulins here!)

Benefit #5: Strip That Belly Fat

Well I sort of already answered this question, but hemp contains plenty of the healthy fatty acids, known as the EFA (Essential Fatty Acids) and omega 3-6-9. Most seeds contains large amounts of LA (Linolic Acid), which is from the omega 6 family, but ALA which comes from the omega-3 family is typically a little harder to get from a normal diet. The ratio between omega-3 and 6 should be 1/3, but a typical modern day diet has a ratio more like 1/10 – we need to get more omega 3! Luckly hemp protein has the optimal balance of these fats, but it also contains one of the rarest poly unsaturated fats GLA (Gammalinolenic Acid) an SDA (Stearidonic Acid) which is normally produced by our own bodies from LA and ALA, but only in very small amounts. For more information about the EFA’s found in hemp seeds, I recommend you check out this article on hemp oil.

Why am I telling you all this? Because these fats not only fights disceases – they also helps you BURN fat!! Hemp protein powder also has high amounts of dietary fiber, which ensures that you don’t feel hungry and over eats all the time.
Is Kristen Suzanne’s Ultimate Raw Vegan Hemp Protein Recipes even worth the $11.95? Or are you better off spending them on a cup of coffee while looking for free recipes in the forums? Is it worth your time.. or your money?

You will find the answer here, but first let’s find out who Kristen really is…

Introducing The Author

Her company, Kristen’s Raw, offers personal coaching and consulting in the raw food lifestyle both in public and private settings. She’s offering her expertise to restaurents and you might also have seen her apperances in the medias.

Ebook Or Hard Copy?

Kristen Suzanne’s Ultimate Raw Vegan Hemp Recipes comes in 2 versions.

I chose to buy it as an ebook and saved some delivery and production costs, I can print it out as many times as I want, and I have the advantage of being able to have the hemp recipes with me anywhere I go. On my laptop, kindle, iPad or smartphone. I also like the fact that I can just print out another copy, since it can get pretttyyy messy when I’m in the kitchen.

But it is also available as a hard copy, should you prefer the old fashion way.

Update: The eBook now has color images! Click here to check it out now !

132 Pages – 69 Delicious Hemp Protein Recipes

The book is fairly short. It’s only 132 pages in volume, and what you’ll find when you start to read it, is that the first 40 pages are dedicated to informational facts about the raw food living style in general as well as the many benefits of hemp protein.

Good thing though is that it’s not all about quantity. What’s far more important is the quality and simplicity of these hemp protein recipes. Most of them are VERY easy to make!

Besides the nutritional value of the raw kitchen, one other huge benefit of raw food is the easiness and simplicity of preparing meals. You can often make a soup in less than 5 minutes, and dinner doesn’t have to take you more than 15 minutes to prepare either.

I like the way this book is structured, because if you’re like me.. when you find out about any health beneficial stuff which is new to you, you’d like your close family members and friends to feel convinced and give it shot, right? Because you care about them, and wish to open their eyes, right?

And I don’t know about you, but my family and friends just laughed at me, when I mentioned hemp protein. They thought it was the same as Marijuana. Well.. now you can just hand them this book, and the next day when you get home from work, your boy-/girlfriend/husband/wife/parents might have a delicious hemp protein smoothie ready to be served.

A Brief Look Inside The Ultimate Raw Vegan Hemp Protein Recipes

To give you a quick overview of what to expect, here’s an inside sneak peak of the different recipes.

* for a full list of recipes, see the last section!

Price: $11.95

What If You’re Allergic To Gluten, Soy Or Nuts?

All the hemp recipes are extremely nutritious and even if you’re on a special diet, trying avoid soy, nuts or gluten, you won’t have any problems at all.

Why is that you might ask? Because yes, nuts are healthy.. and organic soy can be too, but because of the hemp seeds and protein we don’t need them in these recipes!

Requirements And Availability

I don’t know about you, but since I live in Denmark (a small, tiny country in Scandinavia, Europe), it can be almost impossible to find most ingredients in american cookbooks – for an example I recently bought ‘Veganomicon’, out of 200+ recipes, I haven’t been able to make 1 simple dish because of the lack of availability in my country.

With this book you should have nothing to fear, as most ingredients are very easy to get. Goji berries and rice protein, probably being the hardest to find.. but certainly very possible!

A nice addition though, would have been a list of alternatives to certain ingredients, but it should not be a problem at all – if I can find it in Denmark, you can find it ANYWHERE. Simple as that.

Oh an by the way there’s one more thing you need to be aware of to get the most from this book. In the brief breads and crackers chapter you are required to have a dehydrator, but for the rest of the recipes, including the cookies and brownies in the dessert chapter, you do NOT need it!

My Personal Opinion About These Hemp Protein Recipes

The ingredients does taste alot more, it has so much more flavour when you eat it raw. And really you have to just shut down your brain when you read the recipes, and just do as Kristen tells you.. because at first glance, you might think the amount of spices are excessive, but the combination of flavours are what’s making these recipes unique and exciting.

For an example Kristen Suzanne won and award with her delicious Spinach Thyme Soup.

If I have to mention one negative thing about the recipes, I did not enjoy the Cheezy Hemp Nacho Sauce too much. Luckily there are 68 other recipes, so there’s really something for everyone.

This question has been raised and discussed many times in especially the health, vegetarian, and bodybuilding forums all across the internet. Unfortunately it has also been surrounded by mystery, misinformation, subjective opinions and fictitious rumours.

Who To Believe?

Some ‘experts’ representing the dairy industry, claim that whey protein is the best quality protein, and some vegetarians (obviously representing the direct opposite group) claims that plant protein and especially hemp protein is the most effective and healthy protein. This post will not go into great detail about the quality of these proteins itself (read in-depth info about hemp protein and a comparison here). For now I’ll focus more on the advantages and disadvantages of each protein powder supplement – hemp vs whey.

Are you confused? I know I was 5 years ago. Who should you believe? Let me tell you something important..

The Big Question

We’re constantly told that whey protein powder works, it’s the most widely known protein powder supplement, and you definitely do see relatively quick results from drinking it (combined with a healthy diet of course). So why on earth should you even consider hemp protein powder as an alternative to whey protein powder?

Hopefully, by the time you reach the end of this article, you’ll know ALL the answers to this question (and yes, there are several good reasons!).

Popularity Of Whey Protein: Marketing, Tempting Design, Colors And Flavours

Whey protein is an abundant protein, it is a complete protein and it does have a pretty a good reputation. All your friends are probably using it and the canisters look nice and appealing. The marketing of these products are done very professionally because the tubs and jars looks VERY tempting (don’t you think?). It comes in all kinds of different colors and flavours, for all kinds of purposes targeting different kinds of needy buyers, and you can buy it at most health stores. So naturally you’d expect it to be good for your health right? .. WRONG!!

The Shocking Truth..

..however, is that scientists recently have discovered that whey protein is NOT readily digestible for the human body. Whey protein powder is merely a by-product from cheese production. We’re simply not meant to eat this garbage!

Huge Industry And Interests

I’m not saying the following to generate a conspiracy theory, and I’m not saying this is how it is either (I’m leaving that up to you, what you believe in), but personally I do think it’s a possibility worth considering.

Logically those who produce cheese would really hate to throw out this enormous amount of by-product (because who would want to throw away large sums of money?). Whey protein powder is a HUGE industry, with powerful interests behind it and supporting it. That’s why I think there’s a very good chance that this might easily be one of the reasons why whey protein powder is so popular, eventhough it’s proven to have a ton of side effects.

Enough of these speculations! Now, let’s look at some hard facts, in order for us to conclude which is best, hemp protein vs whey protein powder. Like for an example the benefits and side effects of both whey and hemp protein.

Before You Read On, Take A Minute To Watch This Short Video.

Whey Protein Powder Side Effects

Your bloats will become even nastier, and you WILL undoubtedly bloat more often. You’ll most likely get problems with a bad breath and if you’re into weight lifting, and consumes large amounts of whey protein powder, you can look forward to suffering from Intestinal Toxemia. That again reduces amino acids and any nutrients absorption into you body cells. Since these are not absorped into your muscles and tissue, it is left behind in your stomach, just sitting and waiting – it will greatly increase your waistline!

Some of the side effects of taking whey protein powder are;

it’s not readily digestible, and builds up inside your body

your bloats will smell really awful

and you will bloat more often

bad breath

intestinal toxemia

bigger waistline

(Watch the video above, if you haven’t already done that!)

The Poisonous Artificial Sweeteners

There’s one more problem with whey protein powder. Whey in itself tastes disgusting. I couldn’t even drink it without puking, and actually there was a time, long ago, I would do such a silly thing.

To cover up the natural taste, whey protein powder supplements are loaded with poisonous artificial sweeteners, and the only thing they tell you is that it is ‘sugarfree’ or ‘without added sugars’.. Most of the time, thats NOT a good sign!

What They Don’t Tell You Is This.. An Example!

I’ll pick the most popular and bestselling whey protein product from Amazon, for this example, to show you what I mean. It really doesn’t matter which product I had picked, since it’s almost the same in every product I’ve seen so far.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey, Double Rich Chocolate, 5.15-Pound

If you don’t know a lot about nutrition this would probably look very normal to you. But actually, like most other whey protein product, it’s stuffed with dangerous artificial chemicals and sweeteners which you would NEVER put inside your body, if only you knew what harm they actually do to your body.

In the picture above we see that there’s Acesulfame Potassium (also known as Acesulfame K). We look that up by simply googling and here’s the shocking truth..

“Acesulfame Potassium (K) was approved for use by the FDA as a safe artificial sweetener in July, l988. It is a derivative of acetoacetic acid. Unfortunately, several potential problems associated with the use of acesulfame have been raised. They are based largely on animal studies since testing on humans remains limited. The findings showed the following:

Acesulfame K stimulates insulin secretion in a dose dependent fashion thereby possibly aggravating reactive hypoglycemia (“low blood sugar attacks”).

Acesulfame K apparently produced lung tumors, breast tumors, rare types of tumors of other organs (such as the thymus gland), several forms of leukemia and chronic respiratory disease in several rodent studies, even when less than maximum doses were given. According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, it was petitioned on August 29, l988 for a stay of approval by the FDA because of “significant doubt” about its safety.”

- Dr. H.J. Roberts, Aspartame (NutraSweet) Is It Safe?, Charles Press, page 283/84.

Organic Hemp Protein Powder

Hemp protein is the most efficient and healthy protein. It has all the Essential Fatty Acids, amino acids and it doesn’t cause you to bloat more. It doesn’t poison you. It strengthens your whole body, cells and helps boosting your overall health. See hemp protein benefits if you want to know more.

Just think about this.

Our forefathers who lived 100.000 years ago, do you think they had access to highly processed, refined and artificial flavoured foods designed in labs, with the sole purpose of making a lot of sales? Do you think they based their food intake and habbits on sneaky marketing led by manipulative emotional triggers and exploiting the weaknesses of the human mind? NO – they ate NATURAL whole foods directly from what nature had to offer. And that’s exactly what our bodies are designed for!

Your body is your temple – it deserves only the bes

Comparison: Hemp Protein Vs Whey Protein Powder

Hemp Protein Powder+

Natural organic non-GMO plant protein packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and soluble fibers

High fiber = high digestibility = less bloating = better absorption = better results

Hemp protein powder will NOT cause bad breath, blurps and taste – like whey do..

You need less, and get even better results. There’s no fillers and junk, and you get all 8 essential amino acids, and EFA’s!

Hemp Protein Powder-

Once you open a tub, you have only 14 days to eat it (3 weeks max!). That’s why the sizes typically are much smaller. So I’d recommend you buy alot of small tubs, instead of the big bags! Reason why you need to eat it so fast, is because it is a natural clean organic protein!

Taste. I LOVE the taste of organic hemp protein powder, but I often hear people complaining about the nutty flavor of hemp protein powder. It takes some getting used to for some people I guess. Be sure to check out the hemp protein recipes section.

Availability. Hemp protein powder is not as easy to find in local shops as whey protein. At least here in Denmark and I believe the same goes to most of Europe. Eventhough it’s getting more and more accessibile, as more and more people learns the truth about Hemp.

Whey Protein+

Availability. Nearly every supermarket has whey protein!

It’s cheap

Longer shelf time

Whey Protein-

You need a high intake – that’s why they come en large tubes!

Low absorption

Heavily processed

intestinal toxemia

cheap

This concludes the question, ‘hemp protein vs whey protein?’ If you’re interested in more in-depth facts about the protein quality, bioavailability and amino acid profile of hemp protein, and a direct comparison with whey protein, I recommend you check out this resource.

So what is hemp protein? Let’s start from the beginning.

Hemp protein is extracted from the small ‘miracle’ seeds; the wonderful hemp seeds. They are the single most bio available protein for the human digestive system!

If you’re into bodybuilding and lifting weights, and even if you don’t care much about health but just wants to see quick results, I have good news for you as well.

10 grams of hemp protein powder is more anabolic than 30 grams of whey protein!

And women don’t let this scare you away..!! As long as you don’t do a lot of heavy weight lifting, you will only benefit from taking hemp protein. Your skin nails and your overall health, vitality, energy and well-being will thank you. There aren’t really any known side effects related to hemp protein. None have ever been reported that is.

Please do feel free to leave a comment, in the event that you should ever experience any side effects!

The Connection Between Organic And Hemp?

Have you noticed that hemp protein powder is often labelled ‘organic’?

That’s because the hemp plant is in fact a weed that almost grows itself and keeps popping out of the earth year after year. That is also one of the major reasons why I recommend hemp protein so highly to all my clients, readers, family and friends. Heck I even got my own brother to replace his old whey shake with the one on the picture to the left, which is also one of my favourite by the way.

Hemp protein is natures best protein. It’s as simple as that! (read more about hemp protein here)

It contains all the EFA’s (Essential Fatty Acids), it’s rich in minerals and high soluble fibers and that makes hemp protein the perfect building blocks for rebuilding all cells in our body. (read more about the hemp seeds, which the protein powder is derived from, here)

Hemp Protein Is NOT A Drug!

This is probably the only ‘side effects’ of hemp protein powder

The first comment I receive almost EVERY time I tell people about hemp protein powder sounds something like this “I didn’t know you were a drug addict..” – guess what.. I’M NOT!!

Hemp and Marijuana are like day and night. They have absolutely nothing in common except that they both come from the same species of plant, Cannabis Sativa L.. BUT from different varieties. You could compare that with dogs, where you have the Chihuahuas and St. Bernards – they are both dogs, but each others opposites.

Hemp is the male plant, and doesn’t contain any THC (Δ9- tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive chemical that makes people who smoke Marijuana ‘wasted’. The female plant however does have these attributes.

* Actually hemp does contain ridiciously low amounts of THC really not worth mentioning, since you’d have to extract a whole rainforrest of THC from hemp, just to smoke 1 single joint. I just felt like mentioning it to you. Not that it makes any difference, but now you know.

Why Hemp Is Illigal To Grow Within The US, But Completely Legal To Buy..

USA is the leading nation most of the time, but they’re seriously trailing in this category!

Well you must be wondering why hemp is illigal to grow inside the US, while most other regions in the world, like ex. Canada allow it. Really it makes no sense at all, since you’re still allowed to buy all sorts of hemp food products (hemp oil, powder, milk, seeds, etc) inside the US. Isn’t that contradicting?

This farce is caused by a aggresive, and not very detailed, war / policy against the drug lords. But it’s certainly also because the hemp plant, as a resource, is a direct threat to the synthetic fiber- and the fossil fuel industry and big energy corporations. Naturally, with tremendous amounts of money involved there are great interests in keeping hemp as far away from the public as possible, without making it too obvious. If you think this is nothing more than conspiracy theories you’re part right, but just think about it for a second. If you look back in history, in some regions of the world, hemp was actually THE most important food resource. I’ll write more about the ancient past of hemp in a later blog post, I have already written several articles on the subject.

Nonetheless, hemp food products represents a completely legal, ethical, eco- and health friendly industry, which actually might just be one of the fastest growing industries and trends in the whole world right now. People really has become curious. They now question authority and the mainstream beliefs in general. And with global access to the internet, the truth is not easily hidden anymore. All it takes is for people to as themselves ‘what is hemp protein?’, go to google, search and the next moment they end up here, hopefully starting to open their eyes to the wonderful world of organic hemp protein foods, oils and powders.

The Future Of Hemp Protein Looks Really Bright..

Just watch the wide array of products popping up! Hemp really can save our planet!

People’s perception of the hemp plant is starting to gain momentum and shift, since both industrial hemp as well as Cannabis Sativa are getting more and more attention, due to the climate changes and crisis we’re in.

Some politicians and scientists have already started to recognize the potential (or once again, I should say) that yet lies dorment in the hemp plant. Both in regards to the health benefits of hemp protein and oils, the fibers for clothing, and of course industrial agriculture for growing weeds for fuel.

You wanted to know, what is hemp protein? Now you know, but if you’re still not fully convinced that hemp food products can help you improve your health, well-being, performance and energy, please read through some of the other articles on this site.

Bananas (1 for each portion)

Apples (1 for each)

Hemp protein powder (2 tsp)

Organic frozen blueberries (I use 175g frozen blueberries for 2 portions)

Nectarines (1-2 for each)

Hazelnuts (40-50g)

Preparation time: at least 15 minutes

This is how you do it (1 portion just scale it up yourself):

First take a soup plate for each portion, and fill it with a farly large amount of oatmeal

Cover the oatmeal with plenty of water and let it be for at least 5 minutes. You could also do this step over night.

Take the strainer and filter away most of the water. Just let it drip off for about 30 seconds..

Put it into the blender and add the bananas (depends of how creamy you want it)

Blend it thoroughly and add hemp protein powder, blueberries and hazelnuts to it as you blend

Also add vanilla sugar, and it really is a personal choice how much you want. I use 1 tbsp per portion. Some would probably want to use a little less.

Cut the apples and nectarines in small pieces – and DO NOT blend these!! We’re simply going to put these into the blended mix, AFTER you’ve emptied the blender and filled the 2 soup plates.

At last you add raisins – again we do not want to blend these.

That’s it, your RAW Hemp Protein Cereals Blueberry/Vanilla breakfast is ready. Enjoy!

* It’s very important NOT to put the apples, nectarines and raisins in the blender. We want these in small pieces, so it get’s some ‘structure’.

A girl named Izzi asked the following question:

“Can someone please explain to me how you get B12 from Hemp milk? You can only obtain this vitamin naturally from animal meat, dairy or spiriva? There is surely not anywhere near a sufficient amount of B12 in hemp if any as plants do not have this vitamin. Can this be clarified please.”

I can easily understand Izzi’s concern regarding the amounts of B12 one would get drinking Hemp milk. And it’s a great question she’s raising, really. Let me try to clairify things a bit.

It’s a misconception that B12 is a vitamin which is only found in animal corpses (meat) and other animal by-products (diary).. B12 really is a bacteria. A microbe which thrives in the dirt. The dirt which vegetables and fruits grow in.. which again the animals consume.

Meat and diary is not the direct source of B12, and the small amounts of B12 found in these “foods” really comes from the soil..

Meat eaters generally gets a little more B12 than us vegans and vegetarians do, but vegans absorbes much larger amounts of the B12, since the acid production in our stomach raises to very high levels, when we digest meat – which destroys the B12 bacteria.

Really the best thing you can do is to buy bio-dynamic organic vegetables (and Hemp is a weed, thus often found organic) and don’t panic if you yet a little dirt now and then. Our forefathers did, and they never suffered from B12 deficiency.

Dr. Gabriel Cousens argues that vitamin B12 deficiency is typically caused by lack of absorption in the intestinal tract rather than a lack of this vitamin in the diet. So, improve your digestion and improve your assimilation of vitamin B12.

When our digestion systems is working in an optimal way, our bodies are able to produce small amounts of B12 ourselves, if we get the right nutrients for our body to work with.

Supplementing B12 shouldn’t be necessary, if you eat right.. and vitamin supplements really should only be used as a temporary solution, while you’re making the transition to the new healthy food habbits and a healthier life style.

If You Don’t Know How To Eat Right Just Yet…

And most people don’t!

Then taking a vitamin supplement is probably a good idea for the time being, regardless you’re a vegetarian, vegan or meat eater. It could be a B12 vitamin pill or you could simply replace some of your diary products, like ex. the unhealthy cows milk with the super healthy fortified organic Hemp milk.

Reason why I want you to cut your diary intake if possible is, as I wrote about in the Hemp protein vs Whey protein blog post, that the more diary you consume, the more sulfur containing amino acids floods your bloodstream. Also note that a large portion of the diary you eat isn’t digested but is gathering inside of your body..

Yes diary products are packed with calcium and B12, but you also need more, the higher your intake is… It’s like that, because diary is not the direct, original source of these nutrients. The direct sources was the grass the cow ate and so on..

If you integrate superfoods, like Hemp, from the plant kingdom in your diet, you won’t have a problem getting all the nutrients you need. I’ll write some articles around dieting the right way, when I get the time, but if you can’t wait, then check out this Eating For Energy Review or if you’re a meat eater, then The Diet Solution Program is for you. I haven’t actually tried this last one just yet, Rocking Body Raw Food but it looks pretty good to me, that you’re given access to an entire website… and Joy Houston looks really cute too WAIT looks can be deceiving, and they often are, so wait with this last one. I will do a review on all 3 products soon.

Just Remember This

To avoid symptoms of B12 deficiency, you need to get either 1 micro gram 3 times a day, or 10 micro grams 1 times a day. B12 is best absorbed in small amounts at a time. These are the absolute lowest recommended limits, and you can’t get too much B12 no matter what you do. So I advice you to buy fortified foods whenever possible, until you learn how to eat natural and healthy!

A 100% pure high explosive health and energy bomb.

You could also add 2-3 figgs, a squirt of honey, mix it with Maca powder and add a bit of juice.. Well the possibilities are endless and you have to experiment to find your own favourite hemp shake / smoothie.

What’s great about hemp shakes is that it not only tastes amazingly delicious and fresh and keeps your sugar cravings miles away, but it is also low in calories, high in fiber, protein and essential fatty acids.

It means that your blood sugar will be stabilized, so you won’t feel hunger right after drinking a hemp Shake.

Nutiva Organic HempShake Mix, Berry Pomegranate also tastes extremely well even in water, (vanilla) soy- or ricemilk. It really depends on whether you like it thick and creamy or thin and easy to stir up.

Who’s It For, And When Should You Drink A Hemp Shake?

Personally I like to drink a Hemp Shake in the morning and sometimes at lunch too. If I feel like I’m starving before I go to bed, I’ll make a shake and sip it in slowly. You could easily take this before or after a work out session, with even better results than from taking a whey shake, but I do recommend one specific kind of hemp protein powder for that purpose, if you want to get the absolute most out of your training.

My next hemp protein powder review will be about hemp protein powder for bodybuilding, high performance and endurance athletes, so be sure to check back soon.
